Obituary for Lewis "Lew" Feulner

Lewis Loren Feulner (nicknamed Big Lew, Lew, Red and Mort), age 82, passed away of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on the evening of July 15th, 2016, at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, Maine.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Nancy of Pemaquid Point, Maine; son, David of Chico, CA; daughter, Michelle Feulner Castro (Tom) of Santa Clara, CA; and son, Jeff and (DeeAnne) of Atlantis,FL; and grandchildren Erin, Danielle, Loren, Mitchell, Trevor, Taylor and Jackson. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter; father, Loren; and mother, Eleanor, all of Corinth, NY.

Lewis was born on July 1, 1934. He graduated from Corinth High School in Corinth, NY in 1953, where as Captain of the basketball team, he led the Tomahawks to the state championship. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Marines where he earned the rank of Master Sergeant. He retired as a Lieutenant in the Florida Marine Patrol. Post retirement, he and Nancy worked as innkeepers at the Hotel Pemaquid in New Harbor, ME for 9 years. He also was a barber at Roger’s Barber Shop in Brunswick, ME

Lewis was a wonderful husband, great family man, and a loving father. He married Nancy Wright in 1959 (57 years) and the couple had 3 wonderful children. Lew was a social, active man who was deeply involved in the Masonic Lodge where he was a Past Master. He was a Cub Scout Master and a Shriner. He was president of the school booster club at Shorecrest Preparatory School in St. Petersburg, FL. He enjoyed his family, cooking for people, and attending his children’s athletic events. His family and friends will always remember him as a “Bigger-than-Life” person.

A funeral will be held at 1:00pm, on Tuesday, July 19, at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home in Damariscotta, with a reception to follow at The Bradley Inn on Pemaquid Point. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lew’s life. The family would like to thank Maine General Hospital of Augusta for the extraordinary care and dignity they brought to Lew. May Lewis rest in peace. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
