Obituary for Deborah "Debby" Hatch
Deborah “Debby” J. Hatch, 61, passed away on the morning of March 22nd at the Country Manor in Whitefield. Born on December 2, 1955 in Damariscotta, she was the daughter of Gary N. Hatch and Laurel “Poppy” Russell Truchon.
Being born into a military family, she moved often while growing up, but attended schools mostly in Germany and Oklahoma. Among other places, she also lived in Alaska and Texas. Living in Texas for about 20 years, she worked in the restaurant and catering business. While there, she was invited to cater the Houston Open golf tournament two years in a row.
She moved back to Maine for a couple years in the 1980’s, and returned permanently in 1999. While here, she lived in South Bristol for several years, and worked in the deli counter at Osier’s Wharf.
Debby was very artistic and crafty; creating beautiful jewelry boxes and photo albums, and crocheted many different items. More than anything, she was very family oriented and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was caring, loving, and went above and beyond for anyone.
She was predeceased by her father, Gary Neal Hatch; and a brother, George Stanley Hatch.
Debby is survived by her two children, Tina Hatch of Nobleboro, and Nathaniel Hatch of Phoenix, AZ; her mother, Laurel Truchon “Poppy” of Damariscotta; three siblings, Kelly Frances Hatch of Bath, Edwin Clifford Hatch of Gig Harbor, WA, and Janet Lee Meyers of Leavenworth, KS; her ex-husband, Joel Ontiberoz of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Sarah Starks, John Starks and Jessica Marquez; nine great-grandchildren; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
