Obituary for Susan "Sue" Clark

Susan "Sue" Clark
Susan B. (Piascik) Clark, 64 of Bristol, passed away on May 7, 2017 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. Born in Detroit, MI on March 27, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Delphine (Pesta) Piascik. Sue moved to Nobleboro in 1998.

Sue graduated from East Detroit High School, and later was a licensed EMT Specialist (Advanced EMT) and Instructor-Coordinator in Michigan.

Sue loved lighthouses, and volunteered as a docent with the Friends of Pemaquid Point Light, spending many pleasant afternoons educating (and entertaining) visitors at the lighthouse. She was not shy about saying that Michigan has more lighthouses than Maine. In August 2016, she was able to return to her “old stomping grounds” in the “Upper Thumb” region of Michigan on an RV trip, and camp at the Pointe aux Barques Lighthouse on Lake Huron, now a state park.

Sue loved Labrador retrievers, and helped rescue several older dogs by adopting them. She was also proud to be a member of the American Civil Liberties Union.

Sue worked for Holly Volunteer Ambulance in Holly, MI. In Maine, she worked for Midcoast EMS in Union, Masters Machine Co. in Round Pond, and Fisher Engineering in Rockland. She had most recently worked as a lab technician for Dragon Cement in Thomaston, for over ten years. Prior to moving to Bristol, she was a member of the Minnehata Fire Company of Nobleboro. She was sometimes called “the Halloween Lady of Bristol,” for her lighted, animated roadside displays in October.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas E. Clark of Bristol; sons, Sean Hunter, of Bristol and Jason Hunter, of Bath; granddaughters, Kaelyn, Ella, and Peyton; brother, Christopher Piascik and wife Connie, niece Katie, and nephew Tommy, of Holly, MI; a chocolate Lab, Abby; and a Coon Cat, Molly.

Memorial services for Sue will be held in Maine and Michigan, and will be announced at a later date. Donations in Sue’s name may be made to any Labrador retriever rescue organization; or to the American Lighthouse Foundation, PO Box 565, Rockland, ME 04841.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543. Condolences, and messages for her family, may be expressed by visiting: www.StrongHancock.com.
