Obituary for Lucille Putnam

Lucille Putnam
Lucille Dodge Putnam, 86 of Damariscotta, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord with her family by her side, on May 11, 2017 at the Sussman House in Rockport. Born in Damariscotta on March 3, 1931, she was the daughter of Arthur and Martilla (Thompson) House.

She attended Damariscotta schools, and graduated from Lincoln Academy in the class of 1948. Lucille went back to school in 1980 to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She received her LPN, and continued nursing until her retirement.

Lucille was a lifetime member of the Beacon Chapter no. 202 order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Damariscotta Baptist Church. She enjoyed music, playing her keyboard, square dancing with various groups in Maine and Florida, and camping with her friends and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren laughing and making memories.

She was predeceased by her first husband of 35 years, Charles W. Dodge; a second husband, Wesley Oliver; a third husband, Lindsay Putnam; her son, David C. Dodge; and all her siblings.

Lucille is survived by her son, Brian Dodge and wife Ruth of Gahanna, Ohio; her daughters; Lynne Dodge and husband Scott of Damariscotta, Julie Hallowell and husband Danny of Kingfield, and Nancy Farrin and husband Paul of Pittston; her grandchildren, Jennifer McKane, Christopher Hallowell, Carrie Pendleton, Scott Dodge, II, Justina Dodge, Zachary Farrin, and Joshua Farrin; and her great grandchildren, Ethan, Ella, and Eva Pendleton, Harriet and Piper McKane, and Alex Dodge.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11am, on Saturday, May 20th at the Damariscotta Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, PO Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME. Condolences, and messages for the family, may be expressed by visiting: www.StrongHancock.com.
