Richard A. Scott, 89 of Nobleboro, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family and close friends, on the morning of July 25, 2017. Richard, or to those who knew him well, Dick, was born on August 6th 1927 in Newport, Maine.

He lived a successful and adventurous life starting with his dedicated career in the U.S. Merchant Marines, and then with the U.S. Army Signal Corps. Not long after his service, he began working with Telcom Engineering, based in Chesterfield, MO. He filled his career working in remote countries, helping to set up strategic ranges with telecommunications. During his astonishing career, he and Alice lived in Nigeria, Florence, and the Philippines.

Dick was passionate about his gardens, his world famous chili, extensive Cadillac collection, the dogs in his life, the “Pad”, and his adoring friends and family and the times they spent together.

Dick was predeceased by his son, Brian Scott; his brother, Robert J. Scott, Jr; and sisters, Sue Scott and Grace Scott Frye.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Palmer Scott; daughter, Shannon Scott; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Adler and her husband Jeremy; great-granddaughters, Lily and McKenna; his brother, Brent Scott and his partner Amanda and son Liam; and nieces, May Nickerson, Paula Scott and Robert J. Scott, III. He is also survived by Patty Palmer, Robert Palmer, Jr. and his wife Holly Taylor Sargent, and Gregory Palmer and his wife Sue, who were his other loving children; and grandchildren, Taylor Corson, Palmer Corson and his wife Cara Solle Corson, Ashley Palmer and her fiance TJ, Anthony Palmer and his partner Stevie, Taylor Palmer, Sarah Palmer; and great-grandchildren, Oscar, Alice, Simone, Isabelle and Elijah.

A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at “The Pad”, this Sunday, July 30th at 2pm. A family service will be held in Newport, at the Riverside Cemetery, on Tuesday, August 1st at 2:00pm.
