Elaine & Odway  Simmons
Elaine A. Simmons, 74 of Nobleboro, passed away on the afternoon of Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. Born on February 24, 1943 in Damariscotta, she was the daughter of the late Rufus E., Sr. and Barbara H. (Standish) Teele. On December 31, 1962 she married Odway Simmons.

Elaine was a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church in Newcastle, and worked throughout her life in patient care, including time at the Lincoln Home. She loved to sew, cook and entertain, especially hosting dinner parties.

In addition to her husband of fifty-four years, Odway Simmons of Nobleboro; Elaine is survived by a daughter, Mecca Sue Simmons of Burnham; a son, Henry Beston Simmons of Nobleboro; four brothers, Ken and Helen Teele, Rufus and Cathy Teele, Jr., David and Joan Teele, and Tom and Debbie Teele; two sisters, Ellen and Frank Wiggins, and Rita and Dana Simmons; many nieces, nephews and friends; and her beloved dog, Ranger.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a joint service to celebrate the lives of Odway and Elaine, at 1:00pm, on Sunday, October 22nd at the Faith Baptist Church in Newcastle, with the Pastor David O’Donnell officiating.

Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Odway and Elaine’s memory to Faith Baptist Church, 144 Mills Road, Newcastle, Maine 04553; or to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, PO Box 7, Edgecomb, Maine 04556.

Odway Simmons, 79 of Nobleboro, passed away in the early morning hours of October 14th, 2017, exactly two weeks after his wife, Elaine Simmons, passed away. Born on March 3, 1938 in Waldoboro, Maine, he was the son of Randall and Frances (Winchenbach) Simmons.

Odway grew up in Nobleboro and attended local schools, graduating from Lincoln Academy. He made his way to Kansas City for for one year of college, but returned to his beloved Maine, and on December 31, 1962, he married Elaine Teele.

Odway was a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church in Newcastle, and was a true man of God. He worked at Portland Glass for many years, but when he wasn’t working there, he was usually found working at his home, cutting firewood and in the general upkeep of their home in Nobleboro.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Elaine Simmons, on September 30th.

He is survived by a daughter, Mecca Sue Simmons of Burnham; a son, Henry Beston Simmons of Nobleboro; two sisters, Cheryl Boyd of Nobleboro and Catherine Rolerson of Jefferson; and his beloved dog, Ranger.
