Obituary for Robert Strachan

Robert M. Strachan, 78 of Pemaquid, formerly of Natick, MA, passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, November 12th. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn “Dayle” (Cole) Strachan. A resident of Pemaquid for 10 years, he was born in Cambridge, MA and was the son of the late William and Josephine (Nally) Strachan.

Bob was a self-employed automotive parts salesman for over 40 years. Bob’s personality was a reflection of his knowledge and passion for talking to people. He was deeply proud of his years of faithful service in the U.S. Army and of being a veteran.

He enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, feeding the birds, and doing projects in his garage. His life revolved around his wife of 56 years, and his love for his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved and dedicated wife, Dayle of Pemaquid; his devoted children, Jeffrey and wife Kim of Damariscotta; Barbara Lynne and husband Andrew of Whitinsville, MA; Rob Strachan of Tuscon, AZ; and Christine Shea and husband Keith of Bristol; grandchildren, Gina, Brianna, Anthony, Alyssa, Tyler, Sarah and Logan; as well as many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00pm, on Thursday, November 16th at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta. A service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at 11:00am, on Friday, November 17th at the Congregational Church of Bristol, 1261 Bristol Road, Bristol, ME. He will be laid to rest with military honors at the Harrington Cemetery in Pemaquid.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bristol First Responders, 104 South Side Road, New Harbor, ME 04554.
