Obituary for Alex R. Romero Jr.

Alex R. Romero Jr.
Alex Raymond Romero Jr., 64, of Bristol, passed peacefully and quietly in his sleep on January 31, 2018 at Lincoln Health Miles Campus in Damariscotta, Maine.

He was born November 20, 1953 in Laramie, Wyoming to Annie and Alex Romero, Sr. On May 24, 1975 Alex married his high school sweetheart, Sally (Collins) Romero. He worked many years as the Custodian Supervisor at Lincoln Academy until his retirement in 2014.

Alex loved to have fun and spend time with family and friends. His children fondly remember his infectious laugh, his radiant smile and slicked back hair. He was a hard worker who would wake early in the morning, stomp his feet and wake his kids with a loud drop of his boots. Alex loved camping with his wife, children and friends, and he enjoyed teaching his grandchildren Spanish, and would reward them with a booming laugh when they got the word right. Alex recently traveled to Disney World with some of his family and truly enjoyed the rides, food and fun.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a sister Dorothy, and nephews Orion and Gabriel.

Alex is survived by his loving wife, of 43 years, Sally of Bristol, Maine; his mother Annie (Martinez) Romero of Laramie, Wyoming; his sister Dolores and her husband Joey Garcia of Cheyenne, Wyoming; his three children and their spouses: Raymond and Dominique Romero of Meridian, Idaho, Rhianna and Christopher Porter of Rockland, Maine and Robbie and Misty Romero of Orneville, Maine; his grandchildren: Jordan and her fiance’ Nik, Taylah, Samuel, Jeffrey, Addison, Wyatt, Griffin and Jillian; a great grandchild Layla; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of Alex’s life at 1 o’clock PM on Monday afternoon, February 5, 2018 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, Maine. Reverend Richard Newell will officiate. Interment will be in the spring in Wyoming.

Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Alex’s memory to Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box #7, Edgecomb, Maine 04556.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543. Condolences, and messages for his family, may be expressed by visiting: www.StrongHancock.com.
