Obituary for Daniel L. Sicotte

Daniel Louis Sicotte, 71, of Damariscotta, Also known as (Danny) to his friends and family, passed away on Friday morning, February 23, 2018, with his family by his side after a year long battle with cancer. He was born January 9, 1947 a son of Margaret (Williams) Glover and his father Louis Sicotte.

Daniel grew up in many foster homes in Maine including the home for Little Wanderers for a time. When he was 16 he moved out on his own to Washington D.C. and Maryland where he worked at Walter Reed Hospital of D.C. as a mortician's assistant. He was a chauffeur for a senator for a few years. He returned to Maine in 1970 where he attended classes to become an EMT. His class was the first to graduate as EMT's in Maine. He worked as an EMT for many years. In 1983 he worked at Hayden House for mentally disabled individuals, where he met the love of his life Linda Mcfarland. They later married in 1984. He worked multiple jobs from group homes to private duty caregiving as a med tech within homes. Danny loved films, medical programs,camping, ships and the ocean. But most of all he loved his family. Danny was in and out of the hospital/nursing home in the final days of his life.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 34 years Linda Sicotte; along with his two daughters, Monica Belanger Smith of Burlington, and Elysha Thompson and her husband Ryan of Damariscotta; two sons, Travis Clifford and his girlfriend Jamie of Warren and Jared Clifford of Portland; his grandchildren Cathrine, Cody, Willow, Conner, Camden and TJ; a sister Rebecca Sicotte Higginbotham of New Hampshire.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a service to celebrate his life at 11AM on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta. Interment will be in the New Harbor Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in his memory to the Daniel L. Sicotte Memorial Fund, ℅ DB&T, P.O.
