Condolence: We only just learned of Jean’s passing and we are so sorry. Jean and her husband were very good friends of ours for over 45 years. We enjoyed many wonderful times with them and especially savored Jean’s creative capabilities in the kitchen. Walking through her studios was like being in the back room of a gallery of thoughtfully brought to life images of her creation and those collages of days past. Jean awakened our interest in cooking and fortunately shared some of her recipes with us over the years. She was an absolute artist in the kitchen, as well as with her water colors. Traveling in Maine with Jean and Dick was always a culinary delight, as Jean would prepare foods to accompany our travels, never to be expected outside of a well-appointed kitchen with an experienced chef. Like our adventure to Tumble Down Mountain for a Fall hike; while Jean stayed back at the campsite to draw, we hiked with Dick; returning for a dinner of Brandy Braised Turkey stewed with vegetables and potatoes in a roasting pan – this surprise all served at our rustic campsite in the woods. So many memories of evenings at their beautiful home on Bristol Road where she prepared creative dishes presented with her own artistic composition. But we did take exception to Alewife and Periwinkles. Jean and Dick introduced us to Maine where we eventually spent ten years not far from their home. That made for easy visits but sadly not often enough, as now we would like the opportunity to relive some of our memories with Jean and Dick. I was fortunate to have an opportunity to talk with Jean the beginning of March but had no thought it would be my last time. We will miss Jean’s laugh, with those rosy cheeks and white hair; she was a beautiful person.

Condolence: I am so terribly sorry to lose our dear Pot Luck Painters watercolor group teacher, and my dear friend Jean. She will be missed by so many friends and artists, and activists for many social causes. Jerry her beloved Skiperkee has found a wonderful new home with a neighbor Dorothea just across the street. I have been able to contact several of her adopted children to share news of her passing. Jean was a dear friend. Jean's ashes were shared into the Damariscotta River by her loving son Tony and his family last week. I have offered to put together an obituary to share this sad news with so many artists and friends, and would be happy to receive materials or comments to include from others. Jean remained proud and active and was busy painting, but finding advanced aging challenging recently, and I hope she has now found peace....... with loving thanks for being a friend...... Kent
