Obituary for Marcia Hall

Marcia Hall
Marcia Mabel Campbell Hall, 71 of North Newcastle, passed away at her home on the morning of April 23, 2018. Born in Damariscotta on December 8, 1946, she was the daughter of Wilson and Hazel (Reay) Campbell.

Marcia attended local schools and graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1964. On February 22, 1965, she married Colin Hall, and the couple would go on to welcome two children, Stacy and Colin, Jr.

She lived in North Newcastle all her life and worked at many different businesses throughout the years. She loved her home and her camp in Cherryfield, and spent many happy vacations there with friends and family. She kept beautiful gardens and flowerbeds and truly had a green thumb. She was very generous with her knowledge of growing, as well as sharing her plants. One of her last days was spent outside in her gardens.

Marcia was a wonderful cook, and was famous for her pickled beets, and for making Hazel’s sour pickles. She was a wonderful dancer, having learned from the best at the Saturday night dances at the Dyers Valley Grange Hall. She had a great sense of humor, a sharp wit and an infectious giggle that made everyone smile. Marcia simply loved being with people, and people loved being with her. Besides her plants, her home was filled with treasures from years of yardsaling

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Colin Hall, Sr.; daughter, Stacy Day; brothers, Talbot and Jeffrey Campbell; and a sister, Judy Grover.

She is survived by her son, Colin, Jr. “Arnie” and his wife Jana; son-in-law, Sean Day; grandchildren, Maia Hall, Trevor Hall, Jason Perkins and his companion Katie Kilduff, and Meaghan Day; great-grandchildren, Alicia, Kayla and Krystal Perkins; brother, Neil Campbell and his wife Lynne; brother-in-law, James Hall and his wife Joan; sisters-in-law, Molly Oliver and her husband Ernie, Judy Cheney and her husband Bruce, and Rosemary Campbell; as well as her beloved dog, Kelo.

A graveside service will be held at 11am, on Friday, April 27th at the Alna Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543.
