Obituary for Louis Mylow

Louis  Mylow
Louis J. Mylow, 95 of Damariscotta, passed away on the morning of May 7th at the LincolnHealth- Miles Campus in Damariscotta. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, on July 2, 1922, he was the son of Louis and Hedwig (Wojcik) Milewicz.

Louis grew up in New Jersey, attending schools there and going on to study at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. After school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served honorably under George Patton during WWII. He saw action in the European Theater, and at the end of the war, Louis’ unit was at Hitler’s Eagles Nest in Germany.

Following his honorable discharge, and time in the New Jersey National Guard, Louis worked for ITT (International Telephone & Telegraph) for many years, including working out of Ohio, where he had the midwest territory in the 1970’s. He would go on be self employed in the industrial lighting industry where he served as a manufacturers representative for various fixture and industrial lighting needs.

He and his wife Helen moved to Damariscotta about 20 years ago, and Louis continued to work as a representative for the Time Mark Corporation. Louis was an active communicants of St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle, as was Helen until her passing in 2011. He will be missed by those who knew him.

A graveside service for Louis will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery later in June. Details will be made public when they are finalized. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Louis’ memory to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, PO Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556.
