Charles A. "Charlie" Erskine
Charles “Charlie” A. Erskine, 75 of Pittston, passed away after a long illness, on Friday evening, May 18, 2018 at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick, with his wife Iris and his dear friend Arnie by his side.

He was born March 31, 1943 in Newcastle, a son of the late Harold and Theolyn (Rumill) Erskine. He graduated Lincoln Academy and Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1964 as a machinist.

Charlie was a farmer and self-employed in the concrete business. He enjoyed pulling his own horses and oxen at local fairs. He loved lawn sales and his time at farmers’ markets where he sold his goods.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Beverly.

Charlie is survived by his wife of more than twenty years, Iris Erskine of Pittston, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was very fond of Arnie Hall of Jefferson, who was like the son Charlie never had.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a graveside service to celebrate Charlie’s life at 11 o’clock AM on Thursday morning, May 24, 2018 at the Whitefield Cemetery, Wiscasset Road, Whitefield. Reverend Richard Newell will officiate.

Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Charlie’s memory to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box #7, Edgecomb, Maine 04556.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543. Condolences, and messages for his family, may be expressed by visiting: www.StrongHancock.com.
