Obituary for James Beaton

James G. Beaton, 83 of Pemaquid, passed away on the evening of June 4th at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. Jim was born in Boston, MA on October 22, 1934, to John and Laura (McKay) Beaton.

Jim served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years, from 1953-1956. Upon his honorable discharge, Jhe went to work and eventually retired as a director for Dupont Chemical where he worked for over 38 years.

Jim was a former Little League Baseball, and Pop Warner Football coach for many years in Massachusetts. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and the Marine Corps League.

Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ann; a brother George Beaton; and a sister, Lois Rosenfield.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Moran Beaton; sons, James S. Beaton and John R. Beaton; a daughter, Patricia Jackson; two sisters, Joan Callahan and Mary Callahan; brother-in-law, Robert Harrington and his wife Lorraine; as well as many nieces, nephews and special cousins from Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Newcastle, later in the summer.
