Obituary for Brenda Machia

Brenda Machia, 70 of Warren, passed away at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 8, 1948 in Rockland, a daughter of the late Bernard and Geraldine (Burns) Brow.

Brenda was a 1966 graduate of Waldoboro High School and moved to Connecticut at the age of eighteen where she met and married her husband, Larry Machia. She worked as a daycare provider for children in their family home. In 2007 she returned to Maine, when she and her husband moved to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Brenda loved shopping and her yearly Foxwoods trips with her daughter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three of her siblings: Karen Seiders, Lana Simmons and Christy McFarland.

Brenda is survived by her husband of more than fifty years, Larry Machia of Warren; her daughter, Candace Mank and her husband Roman of Warren; two grandchildren, Alex and Nina; two brothers: Jeff Brow and his wife Sharon of Warren and Mike Brow and his wife Sirena of Bristol; a sister, Kim Brow and her companion Dick Burns of Round Pond; nieces and nephews: Josh Brow, Michael Brow, Heather McFall, Rebecca Willey, Richard McFarland and Jeri Cruz; and many, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Pemaquid Point lighthouse, in Bristol next month. Complete details will be posted here as soon as possible. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Brenda’s memory to the Maine Cancer Foundation, 170 US Route 1, Suite #250, Falmouth, Maine 04105.
