Condolence From: Virginia Smith
Condolence: Uncle Sam was a large figure in our lives, not only growing up when we shared so many family times, from Waltham to Edgecomb to Damariscotta, but the many years of Sam and Abbie hosting Maine Family Reunions. We will all miss him for what he meant to each of us, with his generosity of spirit, boldness, and his example of determination and fortitude. Auntie Abbie, Bev, Deb, Chris, and Fran: Thinking of you as you process this loss. Our thoughts and love are with you.

Condolence: Dear Abbie, Chris, Fran, & all the Family, We have had devastating losses, too, and have come to know that loved ones who depart from this earth never truly leave. They are still alive in our hearts and, through us, they live on. Sam will do the same and because he was such a wonderful, kind, accomplished, hard working and community-minded man, he will be remembered by countless people. Sam was one of a kind; an icon in this community and beyond. His & Abbie's loving kindness to Bunny will always be in our hearts. We're so sad for all of you. We send deepest sympathy & prayers at this very difficult time. Carole & Nort

Condolence: There just are no words for what Sam has meant to me.. from his wedding days, children, summer vacations and how he scolded me when I screwed up. It was sad to see this bigger than life man's health fail in recent years, but always had a kind word for me and my family. Rest in Peace you 'Terrible Tickler', till we meet again.

Condolence: To Auntie Abbie, Bev, Deb, Chris and Fran. Uncle Sam was important in my life, loving, generous and strong. What fun we had as kids at Cottage Point when he took us waterskiing! (He also taught us to work at the paper, move buildings and presses!) He loved his family, worked hard and with his many successes, gave back to his community. How I will miss him!
