William "Bill" Ellsworth
William “Bill” R. Ellsworth of Newcastle, ME, passed away on the morning of December 6, 2018 following injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on June 4, 1938 in Waltham, MA and was the son of Matthew and Mary Ellsworth.

Bill graduated from Waltham High School in 1957. Following his graduation, he pursued several business endeavors, including ownership and management of Forance Movers. Upon moving to Maine in the mid 1980’s, he attended the University of Maine and the New England School of Addiction Studies, and became a substance abuse counselor for Mid Coast Hospital’s Addiction Resource Center. He was also contracted by the Sheriff’s office to run outreach programs in the community to reduce recidivism. Bill faithfully served the community in his role as a counselor for over 30 years.

Bill loved exploring new places, and enjoyed spending time kayaking, biking, and fishing with his wife Lois. They also loved serving as campground hosts and volunteers for several years at campgrounds in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and elsewhere.

Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois Ellsworth; and three children; son, Todd Ellsworth of Winchendon, MA, daughter, Bonnie Weaver and husband Tim Weaver of Helena, MT, and son, Brad Ellsworth of Hope, ME; grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Alyssa, Holly, Matthew, and Trevor; three great-grandchildren; and many loved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held 12:00 noon, on Saturday, March 9th at St. Patrick’s Church, 380 Academy Hill Road in Newcastle, ME.
