Obituary for Larry Smith

Lawrence “Larry” Smith, 79, passed away in Boothbay on the evening of January 3rd, after a lengthy illness. Born on November 5, 1939 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of William and Agnes Smith.

Larry grew up in New Jersey, attending schools there, enlisting in the U.S. Navy, and later graduating from college with his degree in Library Science. For many years he worked in the sugar industry, living in New Jersey and Brooklyn, NY.

A couple years after retiring, he moved to Maine and lived in Pemaquid, Damariscotta, and most recently Boothbay.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a nephew, Thomas MacGregor.

Larry is survived by his sister and her husband, Billie and Thomas MacGregor of Athens, NY; and a great-niece, Elizabeth MacGregor of New York.
