Obituary for Norma "Tiger" McCarthy

Norma "Tiger" McCarthy
Norma Joan McCarthy, “Tiger”, a longtime resident of Christmas Cove, succumbed to her year-long battle with cancer on January 18th, 2019 at eighty-four years old.

She loved life as much as it loved her, and her family and friends were always better for one of her stream of consciousness tales. Ever game for an adventure, she and Patrick McCarthy, her husband of 59 years, fly-fished, sailed, conjured terrific meals, and collected everything from antique glassware to vintage handbags and scarves. They were inseparable.

She is survived by her five children: Seán McCarthy, Megan Jackel, Cait Kelly, Hannah McCarthy, and Patrick McCarthy; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00am, on Saturday, June 29th at St. Patrick's Church in Newcastle. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Damariscotta River Association, PO Box 333, Damariscotta, ME 04543.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME 04543. Condolences, and messages for her family, may be expressed by visiting: www.StrongHancock.com.
