Obituary for Phyllis Patten

Phyllis Helen (Ingram) Patten unexpectedly passed away April 22, 2017 in Portland, Maine. She was born May 22, 1934 to the late James and Ethel Ingram in Worcester, Massachusetts.

She attended and graduated from Worcester Commerce High School in 1952, and worked for 16 years at State Mutual Life Assurance Company in Worcester. She was a member of the Worcester Advent Christian Church (now Oak Hill Bible Church) for many years.

In July 1968 she married Morton “Pat” Patten of Newcastle, Maine and moved there.

In Maine, she was a long time member of the Friendship, Maine Advent Christian Church, was active in the Women's Home & Foreign Mission Society, serving as secretary and treasurer for 15 years. She edited the church's newsletter for 20 years. She worked at the Puffin's Nest gift shop in Damariscotta for 10 years.

Her hobbies included latch hooking, word searches, watching baseball or basketball games, and attending camp meeting in Washington Maine,

She was a past member of a local AARP group before it disbanded.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Pat, in 2000.

She is survived by her son and his wife, James and Laurel Patten; sisters, Eleanor and Don Lobb in British Columbia, Canada, and Jean and Vaughn Carmichael in Spencer, MA; brother, Herbert and Judy Ingram in Worcester, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00pm, on Thursday, April 27th at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta, ME. A memorial service to remember Phyllis, will be held at 1:30pm, on Friday, April 28th at the the Advent Christian Church of Friendship, 19 Cushing Road, Friendship, ME. Burial will be in the family plot in Newcastle.
