Obituary for Peter Sparks

Peter  Sparks
Peter W. Sparks, age 60, passed away at his home in Dresden, Maine on Monday, November 19th. He was born on October 7, 1958 in Gardiner, Maine to Alton “Rit” and Patricia Sparks.

Peter was a 1980 graduate of Heidelberg High School in Heidelberg, Germany, and from there traveled living in Washington and Alaska working on a fishing boat. He returned to Maine in 1979 and attended Southern Maine Technical College, graduating in 1983. He married Kathy Dealy in 1987, and together they had one son, Tyler.

Following his training at SMTC, Pete and Kathy settled in Saco and he began his career as a surveyor and foreman for Newman Concrete. Pete enjoyed camping with his family, taking Tyler on adventures, gardening, and cooking.

He is survived by his father, Rit; son, Tyler; three siblings, Tom Sparks, Richard (Amy) Sparks, and Laura (Michael) Meares; six nieces; and one nephew.

Peter was predeceased by his mother, Patricia; and wife Kathy.

A time of visitation will be held at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main Street in Damariscotta, Maine on Saturday, December 8th from 11am to 1 pm, with a sharing of words by family and friends at noon.
